Gamer Gifts

I know it's early but I thought I'd do some research and find some unique gamer gifts, other than the obvious games! And hopefully this way you can ensure yourself the gifts (especially online stuff) and less stress when everyone else is scrambling to get their presents!

LUSH

As a girl, Lush is amazing, and now there is a Magic Mushroom Bubble Bar! Let your gamer chick relax in style!!! :)

Urban Outfitters

This store is amazing! I've picked out some of my favourites but you should definitely check out their site.

Club Nintendo

If you aren't a member of Club Nintendo, I'd highly recommend it. If you register your Nintendo consoles and games you get coins and when you earn enough coin you can redeem them for awesome and exclusive rewards. Also if you earn enough each year before the cut off day you get yourself a free gift! Elite status Gold usually gets you a desk calendar and then Platinum earns you something extra special. Last year Higgy got our official Mario hat and this year the gift was a collectible figurine of numerous characters. It is free to join and you might as well get something back for buying a whack load of Nintendo products! They've just brought out a few more rewards so take a look! I'm waiting for the new Japanese Folding Fan to come back in stock!

Make sure to check back often, because I'll be adding to the list! :) Hope this helps!!!

It's a Halloween!

For Halloween, I have decided to go as Mario because we have Nintendo's official Mario hat. And since I'm being Mario, naturally Higgy has to be Princess Peach (he's very pleased..). It'll be fun! :) I thought I'd share the pre-Halloween pictures. Hope you all have gamer costumes!

Undead Nightmare DLC

So today the xbox and PlayStation are getting the Undead Nightmare DLC for Red Dead Redemption!! It looks sweet and I'm currently just waiting on the PSN store to get it's update so I can buy it!

I would try to tell you what this DLC is all about.. but it would take so long and be too difficult for a humans brain to comprehend in words, so I will just have to post these videos from IGN about the DLC. They are official launch trailers from Rock Star. Btw, If you want to see them larger and in HD click the HD button of course and it will take you straight to IGN's video page.

Official Launcher Trailer:

The horses look great and I'm so excited! Here is another video this time it's the multiplayer mode:

Playstation 2 is 10 Today

So the PS2 has it's 10th anniversary today, and as of this year the PlayStation brand has been around for 15years. PS2 launched of course, October 2000 and was the first console that came built in with a DVD/CD player and offered Internet connectivity and online gameplay for the very first time. Also the PS2 was the first game console to ever to hit 50million units in North America and there are 140million worldwide.

Here's a little video from the Official PlayStation.Blog.

Pretty crazy stuff.. I remember when my big brother got his PlayStation One. I was hyped up for the N64 and he was talking to me about this crazy new console called PlayStation that was made by Sony, to which I lol'd and was like, "Sony?! What do they know about gaming?!" well.. how wrong I was as a young chap =). But I ended up getting the N64 anyway and my brother got the PlayStation, I had a PlayStation too but nearer the end of it's cycle.

Super Meat Boy

Xbox

Super Meat Boy's release day is October 20th. It's on sale for ten dollars until November when the price will go up to twenty dollars. So if you're interested, it'll be worth it to get it sooner than later.

IGN's review gives is an outstanding score of 9/10 and compares it to Super Mario Bros. They conclude that it is the best modern platformer!

Wii

Has yet to give out an official release date, but it is expected soon, in the fourth quarter of 2010. Unfortunately it was tweeted that the Wii version has nothing special and the Xbox one "is 100% the way to go BY FAR".

I'm hoping they offer the same sale price when the Wii version is also released, but I'll keep you updated.

PC

IGN states that the PC version is to be released sometime in November (2010). Again, waiting on news of official release date and pricing. But check back here for updates as well as their website. Edmund, one of the developers has commented that they are aiming for November 20th.

For all your Meaty goodness, check out their official store with all their neat stuff!!

Kirby's Epic Yarn

Well, I got Kirby's Epic Yarn today and me and Katie have played through the first group of levels. Pretty awesome to say the least so far.

The art style of the game is amazing! You wouldn't even know the game was playing on a Wii (except for the awesome Nintendo feel to the game). It's got a meh story, I mean.. what do you expect from a Kirby/Nintendo game right? It's good solid platforming and the two player works VERY well. In fact, I'd have to say this game was made to be played as a two player.

It breaks down like this, Kirby is thrown in to the yarn universe kinda like Mario in Super Paper Mario, he helps someone find the magic yarn pieces that will bring the 7 pieces of the kingdom back together. I'd say it's a pretty typical Nintendo storyline right there. You hold the controller on it's side just like you control Super Mario Bros. Wii. Button 2 for jump Button 1 for attack/action/everything else. There is actually a lot to be done in this game, there is loads of collectible items for decorating your own home (if you so desire) and you get medals depending on how many beads  you find throughout the levels. So a lot of reason to replay the levels to make sure you get everything because sometimes you do miss it.

You can't really die in the game, but it's kinda like Sonic in a way that when you are hit or fall you will lose some of your beads effecting your score etc. It doesn't take or add anything to the game so it's not a big complaint from me. I would say some people think it makes the game too easy but I dunno.. I don't see a problem with it.

All in all, I'd have to say it's a must buy for any Wii owner out there that enjoys Mario games, or just platforming games in general. Even those who haven't a lot of experience with platforming might wanna give it a go, it's a great multiplayer title and very easy to get in to. With a lot of things to keep the hardcore platformer busy for a while too =)

More Kirby news to follow once we're further in to it, we'll also try to avoid spoilers hehe =)

Kirby

So you thought Kirby was epic before?! Try making him out of yarn! Kirby's Epic Yarn is released this Sunday, the 17th. It's an awesome twist on his typical story. Unravel your foes while morphing into useful yarn objects. Manipulate your surroundings in your favour! This is definitely a unique 2D platformer. We've become too reliant and easily excitable with anything 3D, but 2D is classic. And the classics are where it's at! Kirby deserves a new game to showcase his epic pwning ability.

It's a scary thought to think that this almost wasn't a Kirby game. To start off, it was an original title with a main character named "Fluff". Apparently the prototype was a flop, so it was quickly changed to Kirby. Interestingly enough, the 2nd player is Prince Fluff. I think it's cool that they've kept a bit of the old in with the new!

It's a co-op game, so I'm excited to play with Higgy. It's definitely made for two players. Everything looks so good, I'm really impressed with Nintendo. They're stepping their game up! I highly recommend you watch some gameplay footage. Check back soon for our review! :)

Sack it to me!

Higgy and I are extremely excited for they upcoming Little Big Planet 2. The first one blew our minds, and I got the one for the PSP at Christmas time, but I've been so busy I have yet to play it! :( Higgy's mom is an avid knitter and she made us a Sacboy! And soon she's going to make me a Sacboy coffee cuff! :) I can't wait. But I thought I'd let Sacboy warm our hearts by introducing Fall!

LBP 2 was supposed to be out this year, but unfortunately it was pushed back till early 2011. I'm a little disappointed, but I know it'll be worth the wait! And this way, I'll be able to replay the original and the PSP version to practice.

I love creating levels, I put so much effort into them, and yet I hardly have people play and enjoy them. I'm not the best, but I think mine are better than a lot out there. It's like, if you want hearts.. Just make the simplest level possible! It's annoying! :( But I'm excited for the new one, because they've made creating much easier and more professional!

If you're interest, check out my levels.. Our username is: mustbehiggy
Happy Gaming! :)

Mario MUG shot!

So my new love and hobby is painting pottery! So for me and Higgy's 2nd anniversary we went to Vikki's Clay Art Studio in Langley, BC. He hates raccoons, so he painted him jumping into my arms being chased by a raccoon! lol.. And I (more artsy) painted him dreaming of blowing up Staples! So here are a couple mug shots!

So that's him in his Jeep, throwing bob-ombs at Staples.. So he doesn't have to go to work! :) 'Cause he pwns n00bs!!!!
