EVE Tactics - The Fist
So been playing a lot of EVE again. Started getting myself more in to the smaller faction ships actually but those are only so fun. My favorite ships to fly are for sure Heavy Assault Ships. Mainly the Ishtar in my case.. I just love dropping a whack of drones/sentries on top of someone and flying off and watching them die a painful death. But recently things have been changing and I keep hearing people saying "fist hac gang" I'm thinking, what in the hell... is a fist hac gang?!
Well people, here is a video telling you EXACTLY what a fist fleet is lol. Also quite a few other handy tactics if you didn't already know them, not to mention it's just a good video.. erm, anyway. A fist fleet is basically armor tanked heavy assault ships with an afterburner instead of a microwarp drive, and then the mids are full of EW, such as scram, web, ECM, target painter.. etc. The goal is to have a huge EHP (Effective HP) with some speed tank (which is where the AB comes in to play) while keeping a very small signature radius. Effectively making yourself very hard to track and hit with larger guns and still moving quickly, having EW capabilities and very good DPS (Damage Per Second).
In the video it's Zealot setups that Pandemic Legion prefer, however I can't fly Amarr and I basically have the same style setup on an Ishtar.
Adapt or Die - Flinx Evenstar from Eddie Gordo on Vimeo.
So yeah. You basically just throw a large plate and lots of resists in the lows. AB in mids with your preference of EW. And then whatever guns/nos/neut etc you want in the top slots.
This setup here is basically like what is used by pandemic legion - they fly Zealots like I said so, Zealot fit (it's a loss mail lol) Of course you can fit T2 instead of faction gear like they have.
The Ishtar setup I use is more like this - Ishtar fit. Except my tanks a bit better =)
Anyway - Hope that helped anyone wondering what a "Fist Gang" is, or even just helped you with general PVP tactics.

EVE Novels
So, I've mentioned that I play a game called EVE: Online... which is the most bad ass awesome MMORPG out there. Speaking of which, check this new video-
Anyway, so I was out at a book store since Katie needed some books for school. I decided to go on one of my little wonders around the store and grabbed myself two EVE novels, first one called "The Empyrean Age" and also "The Burning Life". I'm a few chapters in to The Empyrean Age and it's blowing my mind! I love it, and I rarely read books - But because this is in a universe that I'm part of (in my game... yes I am a geek) I understand and visualize it even more and because of that I also want to play the game more. I guess it's a win win for CCP lol. But yeah the game is amazing, the books are amazing and I'd suggest reading them even if you haven't played the game before. Who knows, you might end up wanting to play the game!
You can get a trial account for EVE btw, and I would give it a shot if I were you and 2 weeks or however long the trial is, just isn't enough time to scratch the surface of this game. It's got quite a big learning curve but once you stick with it.. you'll wonder why you played anything else. I've been playing it since like April of 2004 and I think the biggest break I've ever had from the game was like a month and a half hehe. So 6 years of playing the game and I probably haven't even done half the things the game has to offer and I only fly 2 out of the 4 races in the games, ships. So yeah.. you'll never run out of things to do!

Wii time
Well, after Katie playing lots of Mario Galaxy 2 and myself finishing off Metroid: Other M... I've gotten back in to my Wii lol. I forgot how fun all the Virtual Console games were and just how fun the Nintendo games were in general.
Next game we'll be playing through soon will probably be to finish off New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Still haven't gotten round to finishing that off, but it'll happen soon enough! I actually started sitting at the PC playing some more EVE this weekend. Times are busy in the alliance and I just don't get enough time to log on and play for the time to actually get anything done... But when I do it reminds me just why it's the best MMORPG out there =)
In other news.... Sony released a new firmware update for the PS3 today, V3.42 to be exact. It's apparently a 'security update' and adds no extra features to the PS3 however it stop some kinda hacked jailbreaker nonsense that was released last month and it basically means that all those evil hackers out there who are so cheap they don't even wanna spend 50odd bucks on a game can no longer download games and run them on the PS3 and will have to go back to actually paying for stuff.
Anyway, just wanna say if you read the blog at all please add us to your follow list as we will update as often as possible... plus we'll be sure to check out your blog in return =) Anyway, keep pwning and the likes!

Super Mario Galaxy 2 Complete & Super Meat Boy
Mario:
Well, I have just beat the final Bowser stage, and I gotta say.. It was too easy! My only comment on the whole game would be that all the fights with Bowser were identical!! But Mario and I are so pro, I'm not surprised it was easy.. lol, jk! :P And just when you think it's over.. It's never over. After watching the credits, there was a nice surprise! So you must check it out! The surprise blew my mind and made this game even more amazing!!!!
Meat Boy:
I am very excited for the upcoming game, Super Meat Boy. It is the same concept of Mario.. A bad guy steals your girlfriend, and your goal in every level is to save her. It's gross because you're a meatball and you leave blood everywhere you go, which makes the stages slippery and harder to succeed. It also makes me think of Limbo, for the Xbox, because it is deadly! You have to maneuver through next to impossible obstacles, like saw blades. It has a really cool feature, that once you complete a level, you have the opportunity to play it back with all your attempts simultaneously. My only beef (lol) with it, is that the release dates are all over the place. For both PC and Mac, IGN notes that it'll be out in August.. But it's NOT out yet! :@ Grr! I have searched around and found that it should be out around October.. So be on the look out! My other concern would be whether to buy it on PC or for the Wii. The one for the Wii has a release date approximately around Winter/Christmas time. So it all depends on how desperate I am to play it!
If you want some practice, there is a demo/prototype version that is free to play at Newgrounds. So if you're interested, check out the link and enjoy!

Metroid completed!
So I just finished Metroid: Other M, and it blew my mind! that game is awesome.. makes Halo look like Poo-lo. No but seriously, when you finish the game - wait 'til after the credits, and that's all I'll tell ya.
I thought the game was great though and I highly recommend it to any 'hardcore' gamers that own Wii's or even anyone that doesn't consider themselves to be in the hardcore gamer category. The cut-scenes in the game were impressive and it looks so good for a Wii game. Very interesting learning more about Samus Aran and also was cool to hear her get a voice finally Nintendo doing something a lil more up to date lol. I think Mario is about the only Nintendo character to speak and all he says is, "It's a me... Mario!".
Anyway, game was impressive, lots of fun and Samus is officially BAD ASS! Not to mention damn sexy =)

Xbox
I'm not a huge first person shooter, and for that reason I don't have an Xbox. However, my sister prompted me to play an Xbox arcade game called Limbo; unfortunately it's an Xbox exclusive. I would buy an Xbox solely to play this game.
It is full of death and fear but it's stupidly addictive. You are this little insignificant person in what seems to be the forest from hell. Your goal is to survive the upcoming 15 chapters.. But there are unforeseen obstacles in your way. IGN made a comment that it is a short game. Personally, it took me almost 2 hours to complete one or two chapters until I got stuck (because I didn't realize you could grab things! lol). You are expected to survive massive spiders, bear traps, various traps and obstacles being thrown at you, strange gravity, drowning, spikes, electricity, guns, and giant saw blades.. to name a few! :|
This game is entirely trial and error. There is an achievement for completing the game with less than 5 deaths. Good luck! If you have an Xbox, you have to try this game! And let me come over to play it :)

Super Mario Galaxy 2
As much as I enjoyed the first Super Mario Galaxy and I completely encourage any Mario fan to buy it.. The second one is sooo much better. If you are interested, and don't want to initially buy both, I would highly recommend the sequel. Almost everything that could have been improved was.. and more!
(If you have not played the first one, don't worry the second one does not rely on it. There are some similarities but it is simple and user friendly. The nice thing about Mario, is that it's always the same story! Bowser steals Peach and you rescue her by defeating him.)
As soon as I began playing this game, I was blown away at it's improvements; it's truly hard to even describe. The worlds and planets offer a huge variety of game play divided into sections. Similarly to the first game, you get many unique power ups that allow you to expand your game play experience. I found a few quite challenging while others seemed almost too easy. Luckily, comets offer specific challenges that turn simple planets into more challenging ones. In hopes for perfection, I have painstakingly fulfilled the comet's expectations. There have been some amazing planets throughout the game which make it particularly addictive. The familiar sounds and sights are nostalgic and make me think of previous Mario games. However, there are so many new things, that once you've used them.. You'll wonder how you ever lived without!
This game offers you the chance to have a second player come in and help. Their main task is to collect star bits, but they have the added ability to "freeze" enemies momentarily to help player 1. I like to hog this game, so I've never had the opportunity to play as player 2, but Higgy tells me it's good to see the action in the game and help them get a feel for it before diving in.
Just like most Mario games, it's very easy to get dozens of one-up mushrooms so don't worry about dying, it's part of the fun! :) This is my favorite Mario game to date! I didn't want to give away any specifics or spoilers; but I wanted to ensure that everyone understood it's awesomely epic proportions. I would not change a single thing about this game, and for that reason I give it a perfect 10/10. For anyone that loves Mario, this is a must buy game!!
The combination of Mario on the Wii is the perfect gateway to other games. I started out with Mario and now I consider myself an avid gamer. I owe my entire gaming life to Mario!

PAX news
So all you gamers excited at PAX? I've been watching all the news from PAX from the playstation.blog and IGN's tweets while at work hehe.
I was just watching some game-play footage of the Portal 2 co-op feature! Which is pretty cool, me and the Katie will be able to play that together =) Although, I hate how they always show cross platform games and demos for PC games on an xbox! Even the guy commentating in the video I watched kept saying "so if you right click.. I mean er.. right trigger" come on already! Just start showing games the way they were meant to be played lol.
Also dunno if anyone is interested in the top25 games for PS3 on IGN, but I thought the top 10 were decent choices, not so much the order... I mean God of War 3 number 10?! and Metal Gear Solid 4 as number 9?!! Being beaten by GTAIV and Red Dead Redemption?! I don't think so... I mean sure those are good games too but hardly better than the 2 mentioned before. I'd have MGS4 and GoW3 in the top 5. But that's why I'm not making the IGN top25 ps3 games list I guess lol.
But yeah, still no more progress in Metroid: Other M. I really wanna play it I just haven't even had the energy after work to really do anything except lounge in front of the TV watching whatever is on really... But tonight it's movie time - The American! Should be good.. hopefully, I've seen everything else that's on anyway hehe. Guess I'll be using the weekend for gaming! Isn't that what it's for?!

Metroid: Other M
So I haven't posted anything last 2 days since getting Metroid =) I actually haven't put that many hours in to it, been kinda busy. I got like 4 hours in to it maybe a lil more now. I'm liking it a lot. Only gripe I have with it is when it auto puts you in first person mode because the game wants you to scan something.. sometimes it's really hard to know what you're supposed to scan so you spend like 2 minutes scanning around you in a 360 waiting to get lucky lol.
But apart from that, I am enjoying it. Good to see some voice acting and Samus background in the game. Guess my next games for the Wii are gonna be Kirby's Epic Yarn and Donkey Kong Returns =) Oh they are gonna be sweet lol. Anyway, gonna get back to playing some Metroid.
